Apprenticeships are full of benefits for both employers and the apprentices themselves. Apprentices ‘earn while they learn’ and get high quality training in a real working environment, while employers get the opportunity to train and retain new staff.
78% of employers say their overall productivity improved after hiring apprentices and 90% of apprentices stay on with their employers after they’ve received their training.
Covid-19 has been challenging for PMC, just like it has for every business in the UK, but we’ve been proud to help our clients operate safely through the pandemic. Our commitment to apprentices is the same now as it has always been – we’ll keep providing the best training and practical on-site experience.
PMC’s historic commitment to apprenticeships
PMC has been hiring and training apprentices for over a decade. Working with apprentices is important to the values of the company and the success of our business because it gives young people the opportunity to train and learn, and after 12 months we have a new, fully competent employee who understands how the business operates and the standards we expect. Our business has massively benefited from apprenticeship schemes, allowing us to introduce fresh talent to the industry and offer invaluable training and experience in return.
What our Apprentices receive
Apprentices working with PMC receive both theoretical and practical training, which provides the tools and knowledge they need to become a permanent and skilled member of the team. The month by month programme also includes specialist training and qualifications, including First Aid, Working at Height, PASMA, and IPAF.
Long term employment and development
Our apprenticeship scheme has an 80% retention rate, meaning the large majority continue to work with us. They become valuable members of the PMC team because they’ve learned how to meet our standards, understand how we work, and have a valuable role in a growing the business.
